Anyone tried to upgrade EFT form 5 to 6?
How do you keep all your rules because it ask to EFT 5 to be deleted first.
After I upgrade to 6, all the rules are gone...
(Good thing this is only a test box).

Thank you.

I've done the upgrade (also in our development environment). What I did is before starting the process, stopped the service and then backed up the existing install directory. After the installation was completed successfully, I copied the pertinant config files into the new install directory (I found I had to do a reg hack to have EFT 6 look in the proper place for the files). Then simply re-started everything and it all came up without any problems. I'm not planning on doing that in our production upgrade, but instead, leveraging the Backup/Restore option in EFT 6. 1) Copy Production EFT 5 to Development EFT 6 and then clean everything up as necessary then once Prod has been upgraded, restore from the development server.

Davidmd,

Good job on the description.

Here is the KB article for more reading:

http://kb.globalscape.com/article.aspx?id=10509

This should explain a few things about the process concerning the ftp.cfg files.

Cheers!

Does this FTP.cfg file apply to my SQL Express database as well.  I am new to EFT/FTP and I have been given the task of upgrading our current EFT server from 5 to 6.  If I just backup the old version and then copy the FTP.cfg file over to the new EFT folder will that move the entire settings over? Seems too easy.

Djbates,

I recently upgraded my EFT server from 5 to 6 and the installer, if you check the Auditing & Reporting Module checkbox, did prompt me if it located an existing database to upgrade it or specify an alternate SQL Server.

I opted for an alternate SQL Server so that I can start with a fresh database and also because I was using SQL Server 2000 and according to globalscape the new EFT server 6 does not support SQL Server 2000.

Hope this helps.
