Importing Site Manager - 11/2/2009 7:53:44 AM

I just bought a new machine, and bought a new license of CuteFTP to go on it (Windows 7). I am unable to get my site manager data from the old machine to the new one. I've tried exporting and importing the data, and all the passwords are incorrect. Since there is no way of seeing the passwords, I'm pretty much stuck. Every single password is wrong, and there are dozens of them. I've scoured the 'net, and there doesn't seem to be anyway to reveal the passwords on the old machine. All the sites work on the old machine, so I know the passwords there are correct, but the export/import function is somehow screwing them up.

Any suggestions?

Try this method, this is how I perform it and it usually works for me.

In windows XP go to... C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\(show hidden files) Application Data\GlobalSCAPE\CuteFTP(or CuteFTP Pro)\VERSION\SM.DAT.

In Windows Vista, simply go to... C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData(You will need to show the hidden files)\Roaming\GlobalSCAPE \CuteFTP\Version#\sm.dat.

Once you have found the sm.dat file, save it to a location where you can easily find it such as your desktop. Then go to the TOOLS menu, click on Site Manager, Click on Import/Export FTP Sites, select Import, and in the following drop down list choose the CuteFTP 4.0-6.0 (sm.dat), and follow the rest of the directions using the file you saved to your desktop.

Hope this helps!
